CT (Computerized Tomography) scan is a type of X-ray that produces a detailed picture of structures inside of the body – including a clearer picture of internal organs. CT scans actually produce a clearer, more detailed picture of the internal structures of the body than X-rays do.

The information made available through your scan will help your health care team to determine the best course of treatment, including cancer care.
Two of the most common reasons for a CT scan include internal injuries and cancer. For cancer, our CT scans even help determine how much, if at all, cancer has spread further – this is called staging the cancer. This type of information helps your doctor to properly diagnose and treat internal ailments.
At the Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic, your CT scan will be administered by our experienced radiology team comprised of radiology technologist, radiologist, and your doctor. The information made available through your scan will allow your health care team to determine the best course of treatment.
Your CT scan can take 30-90 minutes and you will feel no discomfort. The results from your CT scan will be available to your doctor after about 1 or 2 days. The results will then be read for diagnosis and relayed to you and your family along with a treatment plan.
